Silverman’s Apple Picking Tips

* Fruit varieties mature at different times. Pick only in designated areas or where there is a guide or posted signs.

* Be open to apples of different shades and different colors.

* Feel the apple to make sure it is ripe and solid.

* Using one hand to hold the branch, use your forefinger and thumb to gently turn fruit upward till it releases. (Pulling will cause other fruit to fall and destroy flower buds for next year’s crop)

* Do not climb or shake the trees. Limbs break easily, and the fruit will fall and bruise.

* Please wear sturdy footwear.

* Consider apples as a culinary and nutritious treat. A quick search on the Internet will provide multiple suggestions and uses.

* Buy local apples!

 Silverman’s Farm has been owned by the same family since the early 1920’s. During the 70’s and 80’s, Silvermans’ evolved into a Pick Your Own (PYO) fruit farm featuring a widespread orchard, scenic tractor rides, and petting farm with many types of different barnyard animals. During the fall, visitors can pick their own apples, peaches and starting in October, pumpkins. If you can guess the weight of your pumpkin within two ounces, you get to take it home free of charge!
